Fulton basketball teams schedule "Meet the Hornets' scrimmages tonight

The Fulton Hornets and Lady Hornets varsity basketball teams will conduct scrimmages starting at 7:15 tonight as part of a "Meet the Hornets" event at the high school's Roger D. Davis Gymnasium.

Both squads start the 2010-11 season at the Montgomery County Tournament from Nov. 29-Dec. 4.

North Callaway basketball teams

plan Winter Tip Off tonight

KINGDOM CITY - The Ladybirds and Thunderbirds will preview their respective 2010-11 basketball seasons during the North Callaway High School Winter Tip Off tonight.

North Callaway's varsity girls will scrimmage first from 6-7, followed by the introduction of all high school players and cheerleaders at 7. The varsity boys will then scrimmage from 7:15-8:15.

Admission is a non-perishable food item that will be donated to Serve food pantry in Fulton.

HARRISBURG - The Bulldogs fell to the Falcons after being outscored 21-9 in the second half of Wednesday night's semifinal at the Harrisburg Tournament.

Troy Hentges hit a team-high eight points for South Callaway Middle School (5-2), which trailed just 19-17 at halftime.

The Bulldogs play for third place tonight.

HARRISBURG - Steven Coleman delivered a team-high 13 points as the Thunderbirds edged the Bulldogs on Wednesday night in the consolation semifinals of the Harrisburg Tournament.

Paul Zerr also provided 10 points for North Callaway, which faces St. Pius X in the consolation finals at 6:15 tonight.

The Thunderbirds opened tournament play with a 33-24 loss to Blair Oaks on Monday night. Zerr led North Callaway with eight points.

HARRISBURG - Danielle Cassidy scored a team-high seven points in the Ladybirds' triumph over the Lady Bulldogs on Wednesday night in the consolation semifinals of the Harrisburg Tournament.

Brittany Vaughn added five points for North Callaway, which will play in the consolation finals at 5 p.m. today.

Paige Brown responded with a game-high 13 points to guide South Callaway Middle School, followed by Hannah Oberdiek with six.
