Callaway United Way receives large donation

Last year, the Koelling Family Chiropractic offices decided to raise money for the Callaway County United Way. They were able to raise $750.

Recently, they presented the the United Way with a $3,034 check - four times the amount raised last year.

"It was just phenomenal," said Kathy Richey-Liddle, director of the United Way of Callaway County. "It's great that they were able to raise so much more."

Dr. Koelling and his staff felt it would be fun to raise the money again.

"We've always been about giving back to the community," Dr. Bryce said. "For nearly 12 years now we've been working hard in all that we do in order to serve Fulton and the surrounding community.

"Business is about being a part of the community you live in, and we are here to serve, not be served."

Richey Liddle also got totals from the employee campaign at the Ameren UE Callaway plant.

"Their goal was 137,500 and they exceeded that goal and collected $145,238," Richey Liddle said.

That money will raise the total amount given to the United Way tremendously, according to Richey Liddle.

"Right now, we're sitting at a little over 40 percent of our goal," she said. "We wait until we get the final numbers in to add them to the total."

Richey Liddle is waiting for several employee campaigns to come in to the office.

"Those typically bring in more than 65 percent of our goal," she said. "So we're just waiting on that to be reported."

Richey Liddle said there are fundraisers that are coming up that will also help raise money for the agency.

"We are doing the personalized Santa Letters right now," she said. "We'll be taking orders for those through Dec. 19. We will also be having a breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 4 at Sir Winston's from 9-11 a.m."

The breakfast will run right before the Fulton Christmas parade begins.

People have through the end of December to donate to the United Way of Callaway County to help them reach their goal this year.
