White said McGee attempted to run away from Todd Marcy, a K-9 deputy.

"When he saw the dog was coming, he froze," White said. "Deputy Marcy called the dog off, and there was no bite. The guy was smart enough to realize he was not going to outrun the dog."

McGee was arrested on outstanding warrants in Callaway County as well as for possession of marijuana, less than 35 grams. White said authorities also found about $5,000 in cash, which was seized.

On Aug. 7, a Callaway County deputy attempted to stop McGee on State Road AA near Holts Summit, but McGee fled on foot. Inside the vehicle, authorities found products related to the production of methamphetamines.

Later that morning, authorities were called to a farm property in the same area where a farmer believed an intruder was in his barn. McGee was able to flee by foot again, but fired a shot while leaving the property, authorities said.

That afternoon, a local retired law enforcement official saw the suspect near the Tebbetts Post Office, according to authorities. When the retired lawman approached McGee, he fled again and fired another shot.
