A Holts Summit man was arrested late Tuesday night, accused of robbing a Holts Summit convenience store on Saturday.

While watching the news Tuesday night, someone recognized Arthur Allen III, 36, of Holts Summit, and his vehicle and called in a tip to authorities.

When Callaway County Sheriff's deputies arrived outside Allen's home, they found the vehicle that matched surveillance photos.

"Basically, he was upstairs in his bedroom when they went in," Sheriff Dennis Crane said. "He didn't want to follow directives, so when they finally put their hands on him, he tried to resist the arrest and they had to pepper spray him."

But Crane stressed, no one was injured in the incident.

"We had to have the officers and suspect decontaminated, but there were no injuries in the resistance. Allen just did not want to be cuffed," Crane said.

Allen was arrested at 9:36 p.m. on Tuesday on suspicion of armed robbery, resisting arrest and armed criminal action.

On Saturday, authorities believe Allen showed a knife while robbing the Breaktime on South Summit Drive in Holts Summit.

Holts Summit police have surveillance footage from both the convenience store and a nearby Dollar General, where authorities believe he stole items used for his disguise in the Breaktime robbery.
