Chamber hosting trip to French Riviera

The Kingdom of Callaway Chamber of Commerce is taking a trip to the French Riviera, and they want residents from Callaway County to go with them.

"A lot of chambers do this, and it is a good way for people to have some travel at a reasonable price," said Nancy Lewis, executive director of the chamber. "They also get to go with people they know and are comfortable with. That makes it more fun."

Lewis said they chose the French Riviera tour, through Collette Tours, because it was one of the more reasonable in terms of price.

"We felt we needed to stay within a decent budget for people," she said. "Also, we will stay in one hotel the entire time. For the first time making this trip, we felt it would be best."

The trip will cost $2,549 for a double occupancy room. The price includes round trip air from Lambert St. Louis International Airport and seven days in France.

"W are going to have an informational meeting for people on Jan. 25," Lewis said. "The deadline to sign up is March. After that, you can still sign up, but the seats will be thrown out to other communities as well."

Payment does not have to be made at the time of sign up. Participants have to make a final payment by Sept. 3.

"With this tour, if for some reason there is a death in the family or a reason you can't go, there is a refund," she said.

The chamber is excited about this trip.

"We will get to have an afternoon to talk to a chamber of commerce in Nice, France," Lewis said. "I think it will be very interesting to talk about business in that community."
