Tanglewood Golf Course is hosting the sixth annual Freedom Scamble golf tournament today.
More than 100 active military personnel and veterans can play a round of golf for free and relive stories of their military service. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. with lunch served at noon. Golf will get underway at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start.
A patriotic theme will be seen throughout the golf course as American flags will replace the regular pin flags on all 18 greens. Also, flags from the five branches of the military will be displayed underneath the course's pavilion.
The tournament was the idea of former Fulton City Councilman Richard Vaughn as a way to honor those who serve our country through military service, according to the city's public information officer Darin Wernig.
While the entry period has ended, people can still go cheer for these soldier golfers. For more information, contact Wernig at 573-592-3111 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
