Once a year, members of the Fulton Garden Club invite people out to visit the area's posies, and this year is no exception.

However, one of this year's five stops at the garden club's Summer Blooms tour will include Peter Sutter's vegetable garden. He's a master gardener and writes column each Wednesday in the Fulton Sun about his favorite topic.

The tour begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. June 13 in the parking lot of the Callaway County Public Library, 710 Court St. in Fulton.

"People need to get there early; we'll leave promptly at 8:30 (a.m.)," said Kirsten Williams, tour chairperson for the year. "The public is invited and they will receive a map."

Typically, people drive themselves, often end up in a line of vehicles.

"We'll take about half an hour or so at each garden, and have a luncheon at the last garden," Williams added.

People should dress for the weather; water and snacks (trail mix and doughnut holes) will be provided.

All of the gardens are in the Fulton area, and for a change, only one belongs to a Fulton Garden Club member.

"We kind of went out of the box this year to include different areas," Williams said. "It's very cool this year; it'll be fun and educational."

Also, the club has a July 9 flower show approaching. In preparation, there will be a flower show workshop at 5:30 p.m. June 27 at the Fulton library with lectures and demonstrations.

Set up for the Federated Garden Club Show will begin at 1 p.m. July 8 at Callaway Electric Cooperative, 1313 Cooperative Drive in Fulton. The standard flower show is themed "Seasoning with Flowers."

The flower show is July 9 and open to the public (after judging) from 2-6 p.m.
