Man killed in I-70 crash

A Grandview man died Monday morning following a car accident on I-70, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Craig Cooper, 69, was driving westbound in the driving lane at mile marker 151.6. A 2015 Freightliner Cascadia, driven by Ray Hale, of Erie, Philadelphia, merged from the passing lane to the driving lane. The Freightliner struck Cooper's 2008 Ford Fusion, the patrol's crash report states.

Cooper overcorrected and his vehicle left the right side of the road and overturned, ejecting Cooper, who was not wearing a seatbelt. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 5:48 a.m.

Hale, 37, was uninjured; his vehicle sustained minor damage.

This is Troop F's second fatality for June and 24th for the year to date.
