Candidate filings closed Tuesday for a number of elected positions across the county.
Ashley Steinbeck is running unopposed for the South Ward alderman seat, and Danielle Huddleston for the North Ward alderman seat. Those seats were formerly occupied by Mike Bickel and Terry Walker. No one filed to run for mayor, City Clerk Missy Hooks said Wednesday.
Larry Fedorchalk, Mike Harvey and Archie McDaniel have filed to run for one open Ward 1 seat. Fedorchalk currently occupies the seat.
Chris Redel and Lisa Buhr have filed for one open Ward 2 seat. The seat was formerly occupied by Charles Chamberlin, who resigned for health reasons, a Holts Summit spokesperson said.
According to City Clerk Toby Revels, no one filed to run for mayor or two open board of aldermen seats. Mokane's local government has been roiled with a series of resignations over the last year.
Three candidates have filed to run for mayor in New Bloomfield. Incumbent Terry Shaw is running for re-election; he was chosen by the board of aldermen to fill the seat after former mayor Greg Rehagen stepped down in May. He is opposed by Cheri Wilson and Jennifer Graves, both vocal critics of the current city leadership.
Incumbent Bryan Manes is running again for his Ward 1 alderman seat. Luther Riley and Daniel Kliethermes have also filed as candidates for the position.
Michael Lowe Sr. and Talon Walther are running for one open Ward 2 seat. Martha Siegel, the seat's current occupant, has chosen not to seek re-election.
