Two people were taken into custody Tuesday afternoon after allegedly stealing items from a Jefferson City store, then leading authorities on a vehicle pursuit that ended in Callaway County.

According to Jefferson City Police Department reports, around 12:50 p.m., officers were called about a theft of over $500 from the Kohl's on Stoneridge Parkway. An employee was able to provide a vehicle description, including a partial license plate, of the vehicle the two subjects were seen driving away in.

Officers responding to the store saw the vehicle in the 2400 block of Missouri Boulevard and attempted to stop it. The vehicle, a four-door Jeep, sped away going east and the pursuit began.
