Fourth Street disruption planned

Traffic on parts of Fourth Street will be disrupted Thursday and Friday morning, Fulton city Engineer Kyle Bruemmer said.

"The contractor has to perform utility cut road repairs on the Fourth Street project," he said. "All of these road repairs extend the full width of the street where new storm sewer pipes and structures where installed."

On Thursday, cuts will be made across Fourth Street a block east of Westminster Avenue and also at Nichols Street.

On Friday, cuts will be made at the Jefferson Street intersection and just east of there.

"The contractor plans to impact these locations at sunrise on both of these days," Bruemmer added. "If all goes well, the road will be reopened in the afternoon on both days to accommodate evening rush hour traffic."

Residents and business owners along Fourth Street will have access in one direction while this work is being performed.

"After this construction, citizens will still notice an unfinished surface at these locations," Bruemmer said. "This is due to the fact that the concrete installed has to hold down 2 inches so asphalt pavement can be installed on top this spring. In the mean time, the dip will be filled with aggregate material."
