No injuries reported in 9th Street fire

Two fires in Fulton over the weekend damaged residential structures.

Fulton Fire Department officials were sent to a fire at 9:15 p.m. Saturday at 107 W. 9th St. Upon arrival of the first of four engines, heavy flames were showing from a two-story duplex with all occupants exiting the structure.

A ladder truck also was dispatched along with 16 personnel and a medic unit.

Crews found active fire in the attic and brought flames under control within minutes. Other parts of the building received smoke and water damage. No injuries were reported.

Members of the American Red Cross were called for assistance to the occupants. Fulton police helped with crowd and traffic control.

A report said fire officials found the cause to be accidental and damages were estimated at $35,000.

As reported in Sunday's Fulton Sun, a fire occurred at about 2 p.m. Friday in a two-story, four-unit residential structure at 300 E. St. Eunice Road. The fire, ruled accidental, was in a second-story apartment and contained to one room. Damages were estimated at $30,000, but no injuries were reported.

Also over the weekend, a woman died in a house fire that was reported at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday in Audrain County.

According to Little Dixie Fire Protection officials, the body of Paula Sites, 64, was later found inside the garage of the home on Audrain County Road 208. The fire started in the center of the house around a wood pellet stove.
