The Holts Summit Board of Aldermen on Tuesday once again heard concerns from members of the community living in the new Cedars subdivision.

Several residents of Cedars expressed concerns about a stormwater basin that they say isn't being maintained near Davis Drive. At July's meeting, the board decided to look into the matter and has since been in discussion with the owner of the property, who should be in charge of the maintenance of the basin.

No improvements have been made to the property, according to residents. However, the city can't enforce the matter unless it becomes a public nuisance.

Also following up from the July meeting, the board approved a bill that authorizes Mayor Landon Oxley to lease and rent the Civic Building to Summit Community Church. The church will use the building for its services and make improvements to the building.

In other business, the board heard from two members of the Callaway 200 committee, who are in charge of planning Callaway County's 200th anniversary in 2020, about the possibility of one of the celebratory events taking place in Holts Summit that year.

No decisions were made about the topic.

In other action, the board:

  • Approved resolutions to renew service agreements with Advantage Business Equipment for the City Hall and Police Department printers.
  • Approved resolutions to authorize a service agreement with Callabyte Technology LLC for internet, TV and phone services for the City of Holts Summit. The city will switch providers from CenturyLink.
  • Discussed a possible contract extension with the city of New Bloomfield for extended police coverage.
  • Discussed future plans for a draft of medical marijuana ordinances.
