Whenever Ted Clemons shows up, he causes a stir.

On Sunday, he stirred up a wind and a big crowd when he landed his medical helicopter at St. Peter Catholic Church's Fall Festival.

He's a pilot for Staff for Life out of the University of Missouri. Accompanying him on this educational mission was his flight nurse, Gary Vogel.

The red and blue chopper isn't what Clemons normally flies. Typically, his helicopter is black and gold, the University colors.

"This is a loner aircraft," he said. "Our usual one is in for service. We just went down to Enterprise and rented this one."

Of course, he was kidding - maybe?

Clemons said sometime he and his team make multiple fights to pick up patients.

"Some days, we just fly all day long," he added. "Some days, we don't fly at all. We fly more in the summer than we don in the winter."

Clemons said he's been piloting helicopters for 29 years.

The St. Peter event, at the church/school in Route Z in Fulton, also includes hay rides, a country store, food and bounce houses.
