Court Briefs — Sept. 2, 2018

The following cases were heard Monday in the Callaway County Circuit Court, Division 4, Judge Jodie Asel presiding:

Famous Bittick, 26, of Jefferson City, was sentenced to four years in prison for stealing. Bittick had been on probation for the offense, admitted violating probation and the judge revoked it. The case was originally investigated by the Callaway County Sheriff's Office.

Andrew Ennis, 31, of Mexico, was sentenced to three years in prison for stealing. Ennis had been on probation for the offense, admitted violating probation and the judge revoked it. The case was originally investigated by the Auxvasse Police Department.

Marlon Gonterman, 39, of Auxvasse, was sentenced to four years in prison for unlawful use of a weapon. Gonterman had been on probation for the offense, admitted violating probation and the judge revoked it. The case was originally investigated by the Callaway County Sheriff's Office.

Katryna Miller, 30, of Kansas City, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and was sentenced to four years in prison. Miller admitted she possessed the drug when a police officer made contact with her in response to a verbal dispute on South U.S. Business 54 in Fulton in December. The judge suspended execution of the prison sentence and placed her on five years of supervised probation. The case was investigated by the Fulton Police Department.

Philip Rotte, 20, of Mexico, was sentenced to four years in prison for unlawful use of a weapon. Rotte had been on probation for the offense, admitted violating probation, and the judge revoked it. The case was originally investigated by the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Aaron Strickland, 20, of Jefferson City, was sentenced to seven years in prison for attempted robbery in the second degree. Strickland had been on probation for the offense. Following a hearing held this past May, as well as admissions by Strickland that he had been arrested in Jefferson City for new offenses, the judge revoked his probation. The judge recommended Strickland complete a substance abuse treatment program within the Department of Corrections before being considered for release. The case was originally investigated by the Fulton Police Department.

Johnathon Thomas, 27, of Fulton, pleaded guilty to two counts of felony stealing and was sentenced to five years in prison on each charge. Thomas admitted that he stole a credit card and a debit card from the victim in August 2017. The victim was leaving a Fulton business when she dropped her cellphone that had the cards in an attached case. Video surveillance cameras recorded Thomas immediately pick up the phone and cards and leave the area without returning them to the victim or the business. He admitted to police officers he turned the phone off to avoid it being tracked back to him. The judge suspended execution of the prison sentences and placed him on five years of supervised probation. The case was investigated by the Fulton Police Department.
