Mid-Mo man arrested for endangering welfare of a child

A Fortuna man was arrested for endangering the welfare of a child following an incident Sunday in Moniteau County.

Timothy Hancock, 35, also faces potential charges of first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action.

Deputies responded to Old Missouri 5 just outside Fortuna on a report of a domestic disturbance in which a man allegedly was attempting to run over his girlfriend and son with a vehicle, according to Moniteau County Sheriff's Department reports.

While nearing the residence, deputies observed a utility vehicle being pursued by a vehicle on the gravel road, and it appeared as if a truck was attempting to hit the UTV. Deputies made contact with the people on the UTV and the driver of the vehicle, Hancock.

As a deputy exited his patrol vehicle, Hancock jumped out of his truck and allegedly came at the deputy, threatening him. The deputy then put Hancock on the ground at gunpoint and placed him in handcuffs.

After taking statements from witnesses, Hancock was taken into custody.
