Fulton HS principal Chris Mincher receives $10,000 check Tuesday from Steve Gibson, Dollar General’s Fulton distribution center director.

On Tuesday, Dollar General officials surprised teachers and students of Fulton High School with a $10,000 donation.

Those funds will benefit literacy and education initiatives as part of a gift through the Dollar General "Thanks Giving" campaign this holiday season.

"Dollar General is very passionate about its mission of serving others, and we are excited to surprise Fulton High School with a donation to further their reading and literacy programs," said Steve Gibson, Dollar General's Fulton distribution center director. "We hope these donations will help equip the school with the tools and resources it needs to improve the learning experience for students."

Fulton High School may use the funds at their discretion to support their respective mission by purchasing books, technology programs and/or other educational supplies or resources. Dollar General's community outreach centers around literacy and education.
