An unexpected winter wonderland has people shivering and thinking about those without warm clothing.

Again this year, members of the Fulton Rotary Club, the Rotaract Club of William Woods University, and the Fulton Sun are teaming up to collect new or gently used coats, hats, gloves, boots and blankets

"We're collecting gloves, hats, scarves and coats to donate to SERVE through Dec. 4," said Stephanie Hampton, Fulton Sun sales person.

A bin has been set up for items in the lobby of the Fulton Sun, as well as the newspaper's annual "Warming Tree." People can drop off items during business hours at the Sun as well as other drop-off sites.

"Winters in Missouri can be bitter cold, so we're happy to help collect these items for our neighbors in need," Rotary Club President Debbie Laughlin, said. "This is the sixth year Fulton Rotary has partnered with the Fulton Sun on this project and I hope the community will be generous in making donations."

Drop-off locations also include William Woods University, all locations of The Callaway Bank, Central Bank, Callaway Chamber of Commerce, C&R Market, Moser's, Peak Sport & Spine, Total Health & Rehab, and the YMCA.

"Callaway County has such a giving heart and has helped provide coats and blankets for those in need for many years," said Jan Reyes, Fulton Rotary community service chair. "Helping our neighbors stay warm and dry is a wonderful way to share our own blessings with others."

"We are very excited to be doing a coat drive again this year," said Megan Tolias, Rotaract president. "Last year, we were very successful and hope to get even more coats this year."
