Fulton man arrested on multiple charges

A Fulton man was charged Saturday following an investigation in the 7000 block of County Road 411, east of U.S. 54 between Fulton and New Bloomfield.

Scott Skaggs, 45, of Fulton, was charged with the felony offense of first-degree attempted burglary, assault on a law enforcement officer and violation of a protection order.

The investigation began 8:07 p.m. Friday when deputies responded to a residence for a reported burglary in progress. Upon the arrival of deputies, they identified the suspect as Skaggs. Deputies ultimately located Skaggs on-foot in close proximity to the victim residence. Skaggs was arrested and transported to a local hospital where he then assaulted a deputy.

Skaggs was subsequently transported to the Callaway County Jail where he is being held on a court-set bond of $6,000.

The Missouri Highway Patrol assisted with the investigation.
