Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

NEW BLOOMFIELD A Callaway County deputy on patrol Wednesday near New Bloomfield arrested a local resident on drug charges.

Anthony Feely, 36, of New Bloomfield, was stopped for a traffic violation at 2:48 p.m. near the intersection of county roads 370 and 371.

During the course of the traffic stop investigation, Feely was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. It was further determined that Feely was wanted on a Callaway County failure-to-appear warrant regarding a past charge.

Feely was arrested and transported to the Callaway County Jail, where he was booked for the probable cause offenses of felony possession of a controlled substance (meth) and driving while revoked, in addition to the failure to appear warrant. Feely is being held without bond pending a court bond setting.

Callaway County deputies continue work with other law enforcement agencies and community partners to curb drug abuse throughout the county, which so many times lead to other offenses such as burglary and stealing.
