TEBBETTS, Mo. - The man whose remains were found March 30 in Tebbetts has been identified as Shaun McGee, Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism said.

The 39-year-old was a resident of the Jefferson City area, and his next-of-kin have been notified, Chism added. Authorities do not suspect foul play.

Chism said the identification was achieved through DNA examination, medical findings provided by the Boone-Callaway County Medical Examiner's Office and follow-up investigation conducted by the Callaway County Sheriff's Office. McGee had been dead for three to six months at the time of his discovery, Chism said.

The medical examiner also ruled the death to be methamphetamine-related.

Records on Missouri Casenet for McGee show past convictions related to possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. Before his death, McGee was under supervision by the Missouri Board of Probation and Parole for offenses including distribution/manufacturing of a controlled substance.

"The Callaway County Sheriff's Office expresses its appreciation to Tebbetts area community members for their patience and input during this death investigation that involved significant investigative work by law enforcement and the Medical Examiner," Chism said.
