A structure fire reported at 6:34 p.m. Saturday ravaged a four-plex at 104 W. 10th St. in Fulton. No injuries were reported.

When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke and flames were visible from the single-story structure. Three occupants were outside when crews arrived, Fulton Fire Chief Kevin Coffelt said.

Fire crews went inside to be met with heavy smoke and flames, and brought the fire under control in about 15 minutes. They completed a search of the structure to confirm all occupant were out.

The fire was contained to one unit. No working smoke detectors were located in the residence, Coffelt said.

The fire department's investigators determined the fire to be accidental, but found a candle in the room of origin.

The structure sustained approximately $50,000 of damage, Coffelt said. The department dispatched four engines, one ladder truck and 15 personnel, and a medical unit was standing by. Central Callaway Fire Protection District provided automatic aid.
