Man in custody after manhunt

One person was taken into custody Thursday following a manhunt in Callaway County.

Deputies responded at 9:50 a.m. Thursday to a domestic disturbance on County Road 4016 near Holts Summit, according to Callaway County Sheriff's reports. The suspect, identified as Jashua Stean, 33, of Centertown, was alleged to have assaulted multiple people and subsequently stole a vehicle.

At 9:55 a.m., Callaway County communications received a call of a traffic crash on Route AA near County Road 4027. Deputies determined the crashed vehicle was the stolen vehicle and operated by the suspect. The suspect fled on foot, and a manhunt began.

The Callaway County Sheriff's Office K9 unit, multiple Missouri Highway Patrol troopers and a Highway Patrol aircraft assisted in the manhunt.

At approximately 12:50 p.m., a state trooper found the suspect on County Road 4031 near County Road 4021 and took him into custody without incident.

As of Thursday evening, the name of the suspect had not been released.
