A Fulton man was arrested Saturday after police responded to a report of suspicious activity, said Sgt. Lance Reams of the Fulton Police Department.

Michael J. Junge, 48, was arrested for felony second-degree assault on law enforcement and felony resisting arrest.

At 4:53 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Canterbury Drive after a resident reported a male was going through the resident's trash and mail. An officer arrived on the scene and tried to make contact with the suspect, Junge, who retreated to his vehicle, Reams said.

Reams said Junge drove rapidly toward the officer, and then fled the scene. The officer was uninjured and Junge was quickly taken into custody, Reams added.

Junge was taken to the Callaway County Jail. FPD did not release bond information.
