ATV driver arrested after chase

Callaway County Sheriff's Office deputies made two unrelated arrests Tuesday.

A New Bloomfield man was arrested after a chase through Fulton.

Richard Tripp, 27, was spotted about 9 p.m. Tuesday traveling through Fulton on an ATV, operating in the 300 block of Market Street. The ATV had no working headlights or taillights.

The deputy attempted to stop the ATV and the operator fled at a high rate of speed. The deputy pursued the ATV onto North Bluff Street through several intersections to the north end of Fulton. An off-duty Holts Summit police officer assisting the deputy caught Tripp and took him into custody in the 200 block of Glover Street.

Tripp transported and released to the Callaway County Jail on charges of failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, felony resisting arrest - creating a substantial risk of injury or death, exceeding the post speed limit (which was 25 mph), failure to obey traffic control device and operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent fashion. Tripp later posted a court-set bond of $3,000.

Separately, a wanted Fulton man was arrested following a traffic stop.

At about 8:30 p.m., a deputy stopped a vehicle driven by Trent Parker, 24, for a registration violation in the 1900 block of State Route F.

The deputy determined Parker was under a Callaway County failure-to-appear warrant related to charges for possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a weapon. A search of Parker's vehicle turned up methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana.

Parker was arrested for the warrant, possession of marijuana and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

The bond for his existing warrant was $10,000, but as of Wednesday, Parker was being held without bond pending a court bond setting.
