The Callaway County Sheriff's Office made two arrests in unrelated theft cases on July 16, Lt. Curtis Hall said.

On July 11, deputies investigated a report of a stolen vehicle in the 10000 block of Missouri 94, near Portland. The vehicle was recovered later that day at a residence in Fulton by deputies and Fulton Police Department officers, Hall said.

Following an investigation, Whitney Sanford, 29, of Portland, was arrested July 16. The Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney charged her with first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle on July 17.

Sanford's bond was set at $10,000, Hall added.

In a separate incident, deputies investigated a residential burglary July 9 in the 300 block of County Road 245 near Auxvasse.

Follow-up investigation in partnership with the Audrain County Sheriff's Office led law enforcement to Justin Beal, 32. The Mexico resident was arrested July 16 for second-degree burglary, Hall said.

Beal was taken to the Callaway County Jail and later posted a court-set $4,500 bond.
