Presentation on human trafficking to take place in Fulton

An event, "Human Trafficking in My Hometown: What Do I Need to Know, What Can I Do?," will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

The Mid-Missouri community - adults and mature teens - are invited and encouraged to attend this important educational program on modern day slavery presented by the Central Missouri Stop Human Trafficking Coalition. It will be at Heartland Church, 1410 Mokane Road (Route C) in Fulton.

Speakers include survivor/leader April DeTienne and Southern Boone R-1 Superintendant Chris Felmlee.

Human trafficking is the second-largest and fastest growing criminal enterprise in the world. And it exists in large cities and small towns in every state across America and can affect anyone at anytime.

Traffickers exploit their victims using force, fraud or coercion in forced labor and the commercial sex industry.

Through a multi-media presentation, people are invited to come learn about human trafficking, who is at risk, prevention and identification, and what you can do to fight human trafficking.
