Cathy Reichert, new owner of Fulton Taxi, is ready and willing to give rides 24/7. She can travel regionally as well as to major airports, she said.

In between playing with her dogs and remodeling her Fulton home, Cathy Reichert likes to get behind the wheel and take people where they need to go.

On Jan. 4, she purchased the name "Fulton Taxi" from the former owner and went into business for herself. Reichert has two taxis, all licensed and insured and approved by the city.

"I'm open 24/7," she said Tuesday. "I have two drivers right now (including herself), and other people who want to drive for me, but have to get approved by the city."

Reichert lived in Columbia for 40 years, and moved to Fulton in 2011. She previously was a lab technician at ABC (now EAG) Laboratories in Columbia.

Owning a taxi business seemed like a good idea, she said.

"I like to get out on occasion, but I can walk home," Reichert added. "People brought up the idea to start a taxi company, so I did."

She will drive people to regional destinations - including Columbia, Jefferson City and Mexico - and also will take people to airports.

Reichert has flat rates for surrounding areas: $3 to get in and $3 per mile.

"Each additional person is $1 (to get in)," she added.

Reichert said she will expand the business as needed.
