An Auxvasse man was charged Saturday with two felonies, Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism said.

Michael Crum, 20, was charged with first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and resisting arrest. Crum was placed in the Callaway County Jail on a court-set $15,000 bond.

The charges are the result of a Callaway County Sheriff's Office investigation concerning the theft of a vehicle Feb. 10 near Hatton. Later on that date, the stolen vehicle was recovered near Mexico by the Audrain County Sheriff's Office. The investigation continued thereafter and Crum was identified as a suspect.

On Friday, Callaway County deputies located Crum on Route E near Auxvasse. Upon deputies attempting to take Crum into custody, he resisted arrest. Crum was subsequently taken to the Callaway County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges could be forthcoming.
