KINGDOM CITY, Mo. - A Mexico man was arrested Tuesday following a traffic stop, said Lt. Curtis Hall, of the Callaway County Sheriff's Office.
Darrell Thompson, 54, was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance.
At 8:47 p.m., a Callaway County deputy was patrolling U.S. 54 near County Road 147 in the Kingdom City area. Hall said deputy stopped a vehicle for a registration violation.
During the stop, the sheriff's office's K-9 unit also responded and uncovered methamphetamine in the stopped vehicle, Hall said.
Thompson was transported to the Callaway County Jail and later released upon posting the court-set bond of $4,500.
Callaway County deputies continue work with other law enforcement agencies and community partners to curb drug abuse throughout the county, Hall added. Residents can report drug-related activity to Crimestoppers at 573-592-2474 or at callawaysheriff.org.
