With ice and a little snow coating Callaway County roads overnight Saturday through Sunday, serious crashes were reported by state troopers.
Two Mexico residents died in a crash at 6 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 54 on eastbound lanes north of Auxvasse.
A 2000 Nissan Pathfinder driven by David A. Fletcher, 28, of Mexico, went off the right side of the highway. The vehicle struck a concrete culvert and overturned. Fletcher was pronounced dead at University Hospital.
A passenger, Amanda M. Goff, 36, of Mexico, was pronounced dead at the scene and another passenger, Michael Fitch, 37, of Vandalia, was taken by ambulance to University Hospital in serious condition.
Troopers said none of the three involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts.
Three other people died over the weekend in Missouri in separate vehicular accidents, one each in Scott, Christian and Green counties.
