Trooper promoted to lieutenant

Sergeant Scott M. Lance, Troop F, Jefferson City, is to be promoted to lieutenant and designated assistant director of the Missouri Information Analysis Center's general headquarters in Jefferson City.

Lance's career began with the Missouri State Water Patrol on Jan. 4, 2004, as a member of its 32nd Recruit Class. He was then assigned to the Lake of the Ozarks as a patrolman.

In 2008, he was promoted to corporal and remained assigned to the Lake of the Ozarks. In January 2011, after the Water Patrol and the Missouri State Highway Patrol merged, he was assigned to Troop F, Zone 11.

He was promoted to sergeant and designated zone supervisor of Troop F, Zone 2, Cole and Callaway counties, in April 2014.

Lance was born in St. Joseph. He graduated from Savannah High School in Savannah in 1997. In 2001, he earned a bachelor of science in wildlife ecology and conservation from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. Lance and his wife, Brandy, have one son, Kason.
