Felon with gun arrested

A patrolling Callaway County deputy arrested a convicted felon Monday wanted on charges in Cooper County.

Markus Davis, 26, of Jefferson City, was a passenger in a vehicle stopped about 2:40 p.m. on U.S. 54 near Route F in Fulton.

Davis also was found to be in possession of controlled substances, marijuana and a firearm. As a convicted felon, he is prohibited from possessing firearms pursuant to state and federal law.

Davis was arrested and transported to the Callaway County Jail where he is being held on the Cooper County felony warrant. Additional Callaway County probable cause offenses include three felony charges: unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance. He is also charged with possession of marijuana and on a Jefferson City traffic warrant.

Davis is being held on a bond of $14,716.

Missouri troopers also arrested a Carbondale, Illinois, man and placed him in the Callaway County Jail over the weekend. Ronald E. Sanders Jr., 28, was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated and driving while suspended, both first offenses.

Additionally, Tyler S. Askam, 23, of Holts Summit, was arrested Sunday on a warrant for failure to register and placed in the Cole County Jail.
