New improvements planned for county roads

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission has approved two road and bridge improvements for Callaway County.

On Wednesday, the commission approved a contract to replace the deck of the Callaway County Route M bridge over Auxvasse Creek. The contract was awarded to Lehman Construction, which submitted the low bid of $396,789.

Work on the bridge, located south of Route E, will take place in 2019 and require a temporary road closure.

The commission also awarded a contract for a road improvement in Fulton. The plan is to resurface Route O between Route C and State Street, adding 2-foot shoulders and a pedestrian crosswalk along the route to be in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Capital Paving and Construction submitted the low bid of $3,599,321.

The project is scheduled to begin next summer.

When a start date is established for each project, MoDOT will alert the public about the project through signs, news releases and social media.
