Candidate debates scheduled

The Fulton Sun, with the help of Westminster College and others, will be hosting three bi-partisan debates in September and October.

Residents of Callaway County will be given the opportunity to submit questions through the Fulton Sun prior to the events. Anyone wishing to submit potential questions to any of the candidates should do so by at least a week before each debate. Please email your questions to [email protected].

The first debate is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Fulton City Hall, 18 E. Fourth St. The October debates will each start at 6:30 p.m. and be at Coulter Science Lecture Hall on West Seventh Street on the Westminster College campus.

The invited candidates for the three scheduled debates are:

Sept. 27, 7 p.m., Fulton City Hall

Presiding Callaway County Commissioner: Gary Jungermann (R) and Susie Ferguson (D)

Callaway County Collector: Sarah Gladman (R) and Nancy Elkthunder (D)

Oct. 4, 6:30 p.m. at Westminster College

State Representative, District 43: Jamie Blair (D) and Kent Haden (R)

State Representative, District 49: Travis Fitzwater (R) and Lisa Buhr (D)

State Senate, District 10: Jeannie Riddle (R) and Ayanna Shivers (D)

Oct. 18, 6:30 p.m. at Westminster College

U.S. Representative Race, District 3: Blaine Luetkemeyer (R) and Katy Geppert (D)

The purpose of the debates is to give Callaway County voters an opportunity to hear the candidates discuss the issues of importance to them in this election. The events will be free and open to the public.
