No one was injured in a Wednesday fire in Fulton, according to Fire Chief Kevin Coffelt.

The Fulton Fire Department was called to a residential structure fire in the 1200 block of Circle Drive at 11:10 p.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, the first engine's company observed heavy smoke and flames coming from a single-story house.

Five occupants were in the home at the time of the fire and exited safely after one woke up and alerted the rest, Coffelt said.

Four engines and 23 personnel responded and brought the fire under control within 30 minutes. Damages were estimated at $100,000.

Fulton Fire Department investigators determined unattended cooking materials caused the fire, Coffelt said. They also found that the home had working smoke detectors.

The American Red Cross, Callaway County Ambulance District, Fulton Police Department, Central Callaway Fire Protection District and Callaway County Sheriff's Department also were on scene to aid occupants, firefighters and crowd control.
