Mail truck crashed Friday

Jefferson City police reported late last week a mail truck crashed on southbound U.S. 63 with one injury.

The crash left Delvin D. Heath, 71, of Hartsburg,with moderate injuries. He was transported to Boone Hospital in Columbia.

Police said Heath was driving a 2006 Freightliner 4400 loaded with U.S. mail when it ran off the left side of the highway, striking several traffic barries filled with sand. It then returned to the road and struck a bridge.

Southbound traffic was diverted for about two hours. Assisting agencies included Missouri Department of Transportation, Callaway County EMS, Jefferson City Fire Department and Holts Summit Fire Department.
