Man shot in Holts Summit

HOLTS SUMMIT - A man transported after being shot Friday evening is expected to survive, Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism said.

At 9:41 p.m., Callaway County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a shooting offense at the Evergreen Apartment Complex, off Route AA just outside of Holts Summit. Upon arrival, deputies found a 55-year-old male gunshot victim. He was transported to the University Hospital in Columbia via the Staff for Life helicopter.

Chism said the investigation is ongoing at this time.

Upon the initial arrival of deputies, numerous persons were at the apartment complex. The Holts Summit Police Department and Missouri Highway Patrol responded to assist deputies with scene security and witness interviews. Investigators are receiving various levels of cooperation from potential witnesses. The apartment complex is the source of frequent law enforcement responses, to include disturbance complaints.
