Troopers report crashes, arrests

HOLTS SUMMIT, Mo. - Four vehicles were entangled in a chain reaction crash reported to state Highway Patrol troopers on Friday morning.

The accident occurred at 7:47 a.m. on U.S. 54 westbound 1 mile west of the Center Street exit near Holts Summit.

Troopers reported one person, Christine D. Johnson, 46, of Holts Summit, received minor injuries but was transported by ambulance to St. Mary's Hospital.

Three vehicles were stopped in traffic: A 2009 Chrysler Town and Country van driven by David C. Kronk, 69, of Mexico; a 2017 Ford Focus driven by Johnson; and an unknown tractor trailer that left the scene without talking to officers. A 2003 GMC Sierra driven by Oran Jones, 75, of Warrenton, struck the Kronk vehicle causing a chain reaction. No charges were reported.

Another U.S. 54 crash was reported last week in the eastbound lanes near the Auxvasse Creek Bridge. A 2016 VW Jetta driven by Brittany A. Sutphin, 19, of Mexico, struck a deer in the road. An occupant, Sha'neisha N. Belcher, 18, also of Mexico, received minor injuries, troopers reported.

Arrests

Troopers made several arrests in Callaway County over the weekend.

Alexander S. Delong, 24, of Columbus, Ohio, was charged at 12:34 a.m. Monday with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and placed in the Callaway County Jail.

Clifton E. Calvin, 32, of Columbia, was arrested at 7:25 p.m. Sunday and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, failure to maintain insurance, failure to wear a seat belt, a failure-to-appear warrant for illegally possessing wildlife from Benton County, and another warrant from Moniteau County, also a failure-to-appear for illegally possessing wildlife. He was placed in the county jail.

Michele Cano-Lara, 19, of Hickory, North Carolina, was arrested at 9 a.m. Sunday on felony possession of marijuana and possessing drug paraphernalia, and placed in jail. Ricardo Rubinos, 26, of Conover, North Carolina, also was charged with the same charges in this incident.

Chasity L. Wyatt, 36, of New Bloomfield, was arrested at 4:48 p.m. Saturday in Miller County and charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia and placed in the Miller County Jail on a 24-hour hold.

Corey W. Gagnon, 23, of Holts Summit, was arrested at 1:45 p.m. Friday in Miller County on a Moniteau County misdemeanor warrant.
