NEW BLOOMFIELD, Mo. - A Holts Summit man was arrested Sunday after firing a gun from a vehicle, according to Lt. Curtis Hall of the Callaway County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were dispatched to the 2900 block of State Road MM, west of New Bloomfield, at 7:09 p.m. after residents reported shots being fired from a vehicle. Witnesses described a vehicle and suspect, Hall said.

Deputies found the described vehicle at 7:55 p.m. in the 10000 block of Old Hwy 54, north of Holts Summit. Kenneth Peiter, 24, was found in the vehicle. Hall said Peiter was intoxicated and possessed a loaded weapon. Deputies found evidence the weapon had been recently fired.

Hall said Peiter was taken into custody and brought to the Callaway County Jail on a charge of unlawful use of a firearm while intoxicated. Peiter's bond was set at $1,500.

Peiter was also arrested on Sept. 3 at Wildwood Estates near Fulton for fourth degree assault, Hall added.

Further charges could be forthcoming.
