A Benton City man was charged Saturday by the Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney, according to Lt. Curtis Hall of the Callaway County Sheriff's Office.

Charles Pugh, 47, faces several drug-related charges connected to a Sept. 7 traffic stop, Hall said.

At about 9:34 p.m. on Sept. 7, a deputy stopped a vehicle on State Road B near County Road 1013 for speeding and lane violations. During the stop, Hall said, the K-9 unit alerted handlers it had scented something.

Deputies searched the vehicle and found about two pounds of marijuana, a substance suspected to be methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Pugh was charged Saturday with delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. He's being held in the Audrain County Jail on local charges, Hall said.
