3 arrested for drugs in Moniteau County

Moniteau County sheriff's deputies recently made three drug-related arrests.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop last Thursday on Country Club Road in California, stopping a vehicle driven by David Fields, 45, of Clarksburg. A search of the vehicle located methamphetamine, and Fields was taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance.

Also Thursday, deputies assisted the California Police Department on a traffic stop. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located methamphetamine. The driver, Johnny R. Artelt, 59, of California, was taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

On Sunday, deputies assisted officers with the Tipton Police Department attempting to stop a vehicle. The vehicle fled at a high speed, heading west out of Tipton, then turned south into Morgan County on gravel roads just south of U.S. 50. A short time later the vehicle left a gravel road and struck a utility pole. The driver, identified as Christopher E. Odell, 27, of LaMonte, fled on foot, but authorities eventually caught him. He was found to be on probation for dangerous drugs. Formal charges are pending.
