Mid-Missouri roads among Highway Commission projects

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission has awarded contracts for improvement projects on several Mid-Missouri roads, according to a news release.

Capital Paving and Construction was awarded a contract to resurface and improve shoulders in the following areas:

U.S. 40 from Missouri 5 in Howard County to Boone County Route UU. The low bid for the contract was $4.1 million.

Missouri 42 between Missouri 17 in Miller County and U.S. 63 in Maries County. The low bid for the contract was $3.7 million.

Missouri 17 between U.S. 54 in Cole County and Missouri 52 in Miller County. The low bid for the contract was $2.4 million.

Vance Brothers was awarded a contract for a microsurfacing, a preventative maintenance pavement treatment in the following areas:

Missouri 52 between Missouri 5 in Morgan County and the Benton County line. The low bid for the contract was $856,081.

Missouri 5 between U.S. 50 in Moniteau County and Missouri 52 in Morgan County. The low bid for the contract was $1,049,207.

Work on each project will take place next year. Occasional lane and entrance closures are possible in the work areas.

The commission also warded contracts to repair bridges in Maries and Osage counties.

Mera Excavating was awarded a contract to perform scour repairs to the Gasconade River Bridge on U.S. 63 in Maries County after submitting the low bid of $224,074. Mera also was awarded a contract for similar work on the Gasconade River Bridge on Missouri 42, with a low bid of $210,738.

The commission awarded a contract to Boone Construction to conduct scour repairs on the Missouri 89 bridge over the Gasconade River in Osage County. The low bid on that project was $204,771. The work will involve placing fill around the bridge piers where the river flow has caused erosion to occur. The work will take place under the bridges and will not impact traffic.
