A Jefferson City man has been charged after a domestic violence incident that occurred last month.
Robert Carter, 22, was taken into custody Thursday. As of Friday, he was being held without bond. He's charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree property damage and third-degree domestic assault.
The incident occurred Oct. 21 in the 800 block of East Elm Street, according to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement.
The victim told police she had been in a relationship with Carter for two years and that night they got into an argument. The victim was struck three times in the face; when she told Carter to get out, he did. However, he walked around back, kicked in the back door and broke a window. He came inside and kicked a bathroom door off the hinges where the victim had been hiding. She ran to a neighbor's home and called 911.
