Area man charged in Morgan County burglaries

A man wanted since January for a burglary in Morgan County has now been charged in the case.

Jeffrey Franse, is charged with second-degree burglary and felony stealing.

According to Morgan County Sheriff's Department reports, deputies responded Jan. 4 to the 23900 block of Route FF in Stover where a resident said her front door had been pried open and several items were taken including two flat-screen TVs, DVD player, Apple iPod 2, paper shredder, laptop computer, large bowl of silver coins, jewelry and a pistol.

Deputies also received photographs from a nearby neighbor's game camera, which showed a white man in camouflage going through the area at the time of the break-in.

Deputies responded Oct. 28 to a burglary on Big Buffalo Road in Stover, where a resident said his cabin was broke into, but nothing was taken. The victim believed his sister's ex-boyfriend, Franse, had done this because he would often go to his cabin when he was running from law enforcement.

Deputies made contact Oct. 31 with Franse at the Cass County Jail near Kansas City. He admitted he had broken into the residences and said the property was gone and he could not get it back. Franse admitted to stealing the items listed and that he took the jewelry to a pawn shop in Sedalia and sold the other items, including two pistols, in Kansas City.
