For the last week, a duo advocating for Relay For Life of Callaway County have been embarassing people for money.

A purple toilet, scratched and etched in a silver and black informational scrawl, is making the rounds in Callaway County.

"We're cancer avengers, said Amber Sutton of Fulton Family Health.

On Monday, the porcelain piece traveled east on Fifth Street from The Callaway Bank to Central Bank. Smith and her co-worker, Mindy McKenna, toiled under the weight while carrying the heavy object down the sidewalk.

It was karma because after all, the toilet was their idea.

"You know what? It's a good time," McKenna said of the toilet initiative, adding it has thus far raised $150. "We started last week."

The pair are among many Callawegians who volunteer and raise money for Relay For Life. The fundraising event is happening noon to midnight on June 3 at Callaway Electric in Fulton.

"(The toilet) goes from business to business and yard to yard - but you have to pay to remove it," said Debbie LaRue, vice president of PR and Marketing at The Callaway Bank.

The toilet was laid to rest at the intersection of Fifth and Market Streets, hiked up against a white concrete wall for all to behold.

A sign accompanies the purple potty wherever it goes. The cost to remove it is $10. To have it delivered "to a friend" costs $20. Toilet insurance is $30.

After posing for pictures, Marcia Lamons - Community Bank president of Central Bank - said she had an idea where the toilet would next go.

"Mosers," she said, laughing.
