Motorcycle catches fire on Route Y

A Columbia resident and an Ashland resident received minor injuries in a motorcycle accident at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.
Ariel DeArmas Jr., 53, of Columbia, and April M. Sherman, 46, of Ashland, were transported by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia.
The 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by DeArmas, overturned on Route Y two miles west of Route J. The vehicle was travelling westbound on Route Y when it went off the right side of the roadway, overturned and caught on fire.
Troopers reported both occupants were wearing safety devices. The motorcycle was totaled.
Ford Taurus destroyed
An East St. Louis, Illinois, resident received minor injuries in a one-vehicle rollover accident at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.
Terry F. Odom, 23, was transported by Staff for Life to University Hospital in Columbia.
The 2006 Ford Taurus, driven by Odom, overturned on U.S. 54 east of Hillers Creek. The vehicle was westbound on U.S. 54 and travelled off the left side of the roadway, over corrected and crossed both lanes of U.S. 54, before overturning and coming to a rest on the right side of the road, striking a tree.
Troopers reported Odom was wearing a safety device. The car was totaled.
