Local artists are putting a fresh spin on old classics.

The Art House will hold its third annual Palette Affair fundraiser on Friday from 5:30—9 p.m.The event also serves as the Fulton institution's third anniversary.

"This event also kicks off our spring exhibit," Danielle Warren, Art House manager and board member said. "It's called 'Mimicking the Masters.' We put out a call for art work and encouraged works with a twist or a different subject done in the style of the old masters."

Warren said artists will mimic the styles of artists such as Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Milton Avery, Georges Seurat and Henri Matisse. Those pieces will be for sale alongside other works during a silent auction.

"The silent auction is to raise funds," she said. "It will feature a variety of pieces, a selection of the 'best of the art house.' There are 3D pieces like wood workings, glass items, jewelry and ceramics. We will also have original 2D wall art pieces too."

The theme of the event is "an evening in old Italy," and will include three musicians — Christina Bonsall, Beth Hunter and Alex Armstrong — to serenade guests.

Warren said a spread of appetizers and complementary beverages will be served, while other beverages will be for sale.

"We encourage cocktail attire for the event," she said. "But that is not enforced. We welcome anyone, however they are dressed."

Tickets are available for $25 each. They can be purchased by calling 573-592-7733, or by visiting the Art House in the Brick District. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.
