A New Bloomfield woman was arrested during a traffic stop on Thursday, according to Callaway County Sheriff's Department Lt. Curtis Hall.

Samantha Smith, 23, was pulled over in Holts Summit for an equipment violation. However, she was verbally hostile and uncooperative, refusing to exit the vehicle and locking the door, Hall stated.

Other deputies and officers from the Holts Summit Police Department came to the scene and unsuccessfully attempted to convince Smith to exit the truck.

Hall said eventually officers had to break a window to remove Smith.

Hall said Smith continued to resist arrest and was placed in wrist restraints.

Officers found "two brass knuckle type devices" while searching the vehicle, he said.

Officers determined that Smith had two felony and one misdemeanor Cole County warrants for interfering with a felony arrest, distribution of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana, Hall added.

She was taken to the Callaway County jail for the three warrants and additional Callaway County charges of resisting arrest and unlawful possession of a weapon, Hall said. Her bond was set at $23,000.
