Authorities arrested two men this week after separate searches of Moniteau County homes reportedly uncovered illegal drugs.

On Tuesday, the county sheriff's department, assisted by officers in the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force, served a search warrant at a residence on Institute Street in Clarksburg, where they reportedly seized methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Daniel E. Gilligan, 45, Clarksburg, was arrested at the scene and transported to the Moniteau County Jail. His bond was set at $25,000 on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Deputies also reported finding a firearm and ammunition belonging to the suspect. The sheriff's department says federal weapons charges may be pursued as the investigation continues.

On Wednesday, sheriff's deputies and city police responded to a domestic disturbance at a Thomas Street home in California. After initial investigation, officers searched the property and allegedly seized methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Ricky L. Watts, 43, was taken into custody on suspicion of methamphetamine possession and was held in the county jail pending the filing of a formal charge, according to Sheriff Tony Wheatley.
